It’s important to understand the difference between home health care and home care services. While home care typically includes chore and housecleaning services, home health care provides medical care for patients recovering from an illness, injury or surgery and often involves skilled nursing care and/or a physical, occupational or speech therapist. Today, with a growing trend towards reduced hospitalizations, home health is gaining in popularity. As hospital stays decrease, more and more patients need highly skilled services when they return home. Others are able to avoid institutional care altogether and instead receive quality care in a comfortable environment….their home.
